Several major projects with long hours behind the screen gave me a great time at work — but unfortunately also serious shoulder pain. I’d had issues before, but usually a heat pad or a physiotherapist’s massage would fix things. After the last project, though, it got really bad. Every day I sat at my desk in pain, trying in vain to relieve the muscle tension and discomfort.

I’d had a Shiatsu massage once before at my mother’s place in Arnhem, and that had worked well — a full-body treatment that really targeted the painful spots. After a solid Google search, I found Louis’s website.

Louis’s massages have often helped me get rid of intense pain — the kind that leads to headaches and makes me snap at people. He advised me to start exercising alongside the treatments. I’m not exactly bursting with athletic enthusiasm, but he managed to convince me. I’ve now been working out for a while under the guidance of a sports physiotherapist, and together with the massages, I’ve made real progress. I’m even starting to enjoy the workouts. When I stay mindful and consistent, I can now sit at my computer pain-free most of the time.

Shiatsu massage gives you a full-body treatment that you can really feel — and feel working. Louis’s Shiatsu has a bit of a Rotterdam vibe: not airy-fairy, but practical, with a cheerful beat playing in the background. I definitely recommend his massages to anyone — even just for relaxation — and ideally on a regular basis.
