A cable-rope for a spine, concrete shoulders, dizziness from hyperventilation, and an irritable bowel. These are all things I basically consider completely normal. It\u2019s hard to imagine it could really be different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Western medicine hasn\u2019t had much to offer for my vague complaints either: \u201cLearn to live with it.\u201d \u201cEat lots of fiber.\u201d \u201cRelax.\u201d \u201cJust breathe.\u201d Guys, if it were that easy, I would\u2019ve done it years ago!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Along the way, I\u2019ve tried a lot with mixed results, but nothing really changed in a lasting way. When the tension and blockages in my body got so bad that I couldn\u2019t even meditate anymore, I\u2019d had enough. Something\u2019s got to give and it ain\u2019t me. (Did I mention I\u2019m stubborn and headstrong?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Louis visits my workplace weekly, and with a \u201cmight help, won\u2019t hurt\u201d mindset, I stepped through the door. And oh, did I regret it. The pain, people, the pain. Anyone who claims massages are relaxing should try it in my body. There\u2019s nothing fun about it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And yet I went back. Why? Because after that first time I could suddenly breathe deeply into my body, and emotions surfaced I didn\u2019t even know I\u2019d been holding. What followed was a sense of liberation\u2026 that unfortunately lasted less than a week. So, like a true masochist, I booked another \u201ctorture session.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The life patterns I built over 35 years won\u2019t disappear after one or two treatments. But slowly, very gradually, I notice things changing. Last time, it didn\u2019t hurt anymore. Louis\u2019s saintly patience with my stubborn, contrary body is paying off. Miracles do still happen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who knows \u2014 maybe I\u2019ll come to experience massages as truly chill and relaxing, my shoulders naturally at ease, no consequences to eating, and breathing as something I always do well, naturally. Not a miracle cure, but who knows\u2026 after a year with Louis, I believe it\u2019s possible. Step by step, bit by bit. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n
